The ASAA Early Career Book Prize 2026 is now open for applications! This biennial award celebrates excellence and innovation in Asian Studies by recognising the outstanding work of early career scholars. The winner receives $1,000, with an honourable mention for the runner-up. Applications close on 9 January 2026, and the winner will be announced by May 2026.
Eligible applicants must be current ASAA members and early career researchers (up to five years post-PhD, with allowances for career interruptions). The book must be a sole-authored monograph published in 2024–2025, dealing primarily with a country or countries of Asia or with Australia’s relationship with Asia, in the humanities or social sciences. Applicants must also have an association with an Australian university at the time of writing or publication.
