ASAA announces recipients of Postgraduate Conference Awards for 2026 Conference

The ASAA Council is thrilled to announce the recipients of the Postgraduate Conference Awards, which will support the attendance at the 2026 conference by some of best emerging scholars in Asian Studies.

This year, to coincide with the 50th anniversary of the Association, we have been able to offer far more awards than in previous years. In addition to the ‘core’ funding by the ASAA itself, the Indonesia Council and Taylor & Francis (the publisher of our flagship journal Asian Studies Review) have each provided funds which will allow additional awards to be made to Postgraduate Researchers. Furthermore, a generous donation from the family of the late Elaine McKay, a former President of the ASAA, has allowed us to vastly expand the number of recipients.

The ASAA Council congratulates the recipients of all these awards, and a full list appears below.

The Council also offers its commiserations to those many applicants who were not successful on this occasion. We had a record-breaking number of applications, and it is unfortunate that we could not provide funding to everyone.

Nonetheless, we hope to see as many Postgraduate Researchers at the conference in 2026.

Best wishes,

David Hundt
President, ASAA
