Announcement: ASAA congratulates winners of ECR Support Scheme

The Asian Studies Association of Australia (ASAA) is pleased to announce the recipients of the ECR Support Scheme awards, a new initiative that has been introduced to support the attendance at the 2026 Biennial Conference by Early Career Researchers.

The scheme was proposed and coordinated by the ASAA’s ECR Representative, Dr Soyeon Kim, and this year it will support the attendance by five scholars at the conference in Geelong.

The ASAA congratulates the recipients of this year’s awards:

  • Dr Carljohnson Anacin (Griffith University)
  • Dr Choi Hyun Joo (Sunggyunkwan University)
  • Dr Guo Jia (University of Wollongong)
  • Dr Tets Kimura (Flinders University)
  • Dr Nuri W. Veronika (University of Melbourne)

There was strong interest in this year’s scheme, which underscores the need to support ECR scholars, and the ASAA offers its commiserations to those applicants who did not receive awards on this occasion.
