Roundtable on Supporting Teaching Advanced Japanese in Australia – Network for Teaching Advanced Japanese in Australia (豪州上級日本語ネットワーク)

The ANU Japan Institute is pleased to host its first seminar series, supported by the Australian Government through the Australia-Japan Foundation of the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade.

Register now for the final seminar for semester one ‘Roundtable on Supporting Teaching Advanced Japanese in Australia’ co-chaired by Dr Carol Hayes from The Australian National University and A/Prof Ikuko Nakane from the University of Melbourne. on Wednesday 19 May 2021.

Many Australian universities are facing real difficulties in sustaining their advanced Japanese language programs, in a time when the humanities are increasingly required to justify their existence. This context of academic precarity and global uncertainty has been exacerbated by the COVID-19 pandemic and now universities are facing an urgent need to develop better teacher networks and online course materials, particularly for advanced levels.
